1. Introduction
On 15 November 2025, DDDT Charity organized a series of community meetings in the localities of Waragni, Malouada, Adjodo, and Kparakoude. The main objective was to address the increasing number of children leaving school due to financial difficulties. Parents, school representatives, and community leaders actively participated in the discussions.
2. Background
Schools across the Djarkpanga region have reported a concerning rise in school dropouts over the last quarter. Most cases are linked to households facing severe financial hardship. DDDT Charity facilitated these meetings to identify the main barriers to education and propose sustainable community-based solutions.
3. Main Concerns Expressed by Parents
– Inability to pay school fees due to low or unstable income.
– Lack of essential school supplies: notebooks, uniforms, pens, etc.
– Transportation challenges caused by long distances between villages and schools.
– Children assisting with family economic activities, reducing school attendance.
4. DDDT Charity Observations
DDDT observed the following:
– Financial hardship remains the main cause of school dropouts.
– Parents strongly desire for their children to continue schooling.
– Local communities are willing to participate in education-support initiatives.
– A follow-up system for vulnerable students is essential.
5. Recommendations
The following actions were proposed:
1. Establish village-based Community Education Support Funds.
2. Strengthen awareness campaigns promoting continuous schooling.
3. Allow flexible or installment-based fee payments.
4. Reinforce community involvement to support vulnerable families.
6. Support for Girls at Risk of School Dropout
Girls remain particularly vulnerable to school dropout in the communities visited. To help them stay in school, several key measures were proposed:
– Provide targeted financial assistance to ease school-related costs.
– Distribute essential school supplies such as notebooks, uniforms, and pens.
– Increase parental sensitization on the importance of girls’ education.
– Offer psychosocial support and community support groups.
– Improve safety for girls who travel long distances to school.
– Address early marriage and teenage pregnancy risks.
– Implement regular monitoring of identified at‑risk girls.
7. Conclusion
The meetings clearly demonstrated that financial constraints remain the leading cause of school dropouts, with girls particularly affected. Under the leadership of Mr. Ibarin Morou, DDDT Charity reaffirms its commitment to supporting education for all and reducing dropout rates across the Djarkpanga region.
